Abstract: This publication serves as a guide that represents the consensus of National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Member companies and is not intended to override the recommendations of the specific equipment manufacturer. These guidelines provide information on how to evaluate electrical equipment that has been exposed to earthquakes (refer to other NEMA electrical equipment evaluations guides for water, fire, and heat damage caused by secondary effects of earthquake damage). Where additional information is required, it is recommended that the specific electrical equipment manufacturers be consulted. The evaluation of electrical equipment should be conducted by qualified personnel. Depending on the nature of the debris, damage to equipment or essential distribution systems interconnections may range from light damage to destruction by falling building cladding, etc. Topics equipment damage;electrical equipment;earthquake damage;distribution equipment;electrical equipment integrity.
