description abstract | Medical Imaging devices consist of highly complex and powerful software and hardware components that are closely integrated to perform highly specialized functionality. The research and development of new imaging devices and technology can take several years to design and develop before a product is ready to enter the marketplace. Medical device manufacturers (MDMs) are constantly improving technology through innovation to provide clinicians the best possible data with which to perform diagnoses and treat patients. The introduction of computerized components and software, access to the internet, and the arrival of the Internet of Things (IoT) have vastly improved the capabilities of medical imaging devices. The shift to digital technology within medical imaging devices offered expanded functionality that could never be realized within older analog devices. | |
