Abstract: The standards in this part apply to magnetically-operated, full-voltage vacuum-break, noncombination controllers rated 1500 volts for both motor and non-motor loads. The motor-rated controllers are full-voltage for use with squirrel-cage and wound-rotor induction motors. The nonmotor loads may be single or three-phase transformer, capacitor, heating or lighting loads.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this part is to establish standard ratings, marking, construction, and performance requirements for Class V vacuum-break controllers and provide a means to evaluate other vacuum-break controllers which do not qualify for designation as a Class V controller.
