Standard Specification for High Friction Surface Treatment for Asphalt and Concrete Pavements Using Calcined Bauxite

Abstract

This specification covers High Friction Surface Treatments (HFST) for asphalt and concrete pavements.

The HFST is comprised of a minimum of a single layer using a binder resin system and surface-applied aggregate.

Binder resin systems include low modulus epoxies, methyl methacrylate (MMA), and polyester resins.

High friction surface applied aggregate is refractory grade calcined bauxite aggregate.
